Design codes
Development managers usually take a perfectly pragmatic, sensible approach to creating a design code for their next residential estate. They simply copy the code made for their current estate, and give it a few tweaks.

Sometimes though, tweaks are not enough. Over time, inconsistencies creep in. The document might have become a bit wordy. The lawyers may have inserted a few clauses in legal language. Is that reference to the regulations still current? The Design Review Group goes beyond tweaks to rebuild your design code to the quality you want. We can refurbish your code, renovate, or knock down and rebuild.

We examine the structure and the language for clarity. We look at the required level of each design standard, and if any high-value standards are missing. We can suggest additional graphics, then create them. We also look at the big picture, considering the overall look and feel of the document, and its total length.

Parklea is a developer of residential estates in the south-east of metropolitan Melbourne and Gippsland. Parklea had the Design Review Group edit the text for the design guidelines for its next estate. "The guidelines are clearer, better structured, and more concise." says Mr Mills, Parklea's sales manager. "The word count went down by 15 %. Under-standability went up. We got good suggestions on adjusting some design standards."

Why use a design code?
-
Lot buyers gain confidence that it protects the value of their investment.
-
The estate looks better.
-
The developer’s reputation is enhanced.
-
It adds thousands of dollars of value per lot to the next stage and the next estate.
Our ‘white label’ design standards are profusely illustrated. They have been tested with applicants to ensure they are easily understood. If you engage the Design Review Group to process the estate's developer approval applications, you get to use the white label standards for free.
